What is a TTRPG

So what is a TTRPG? at first glance, it’s proably just a pile of letters, but there’s a meaning behind the madness. TableTop Role Playing Game. Or in other words: the kind of roleplay you do while sat around a table, usually involving dice, snacks and friends.
There are many types of TTRPGs. Some are role play heavy, some focus more on combat and numbers. There’s a flavour for everyone.
Some games use battle maps, miniatures or props. Others rely solely on theater of mind. It’s important to remember that while all the accesories are fun, you don’t need to spend a fortune to have a great game.
Most games also have a Game Master (also known as a storyteller, a dungeon master, a keeper etc.), the person who crafts the tale, and helps the player navigate the story. This can be an intimidating role to take on, but it’s a rewarding one. Especially if you’ve ever wanted to pilot a dragon.
Most games require at least two people, a GM and a player, though there are games you can play by yourself if you’re into the story crafting aspects.
But for a lot of people, TTRPGs are a wonderful way to connect with friends and meet new people. It allows you to step into the shoes of someone else for while, to beat the villain, to travel the world. To dream up fantastical, horrifying and ridiculous scenarios with your friends.
